It feels so different to be blogging for a teacher to read, since my previous blogs have always been for my friends and the public to check out. But hey, I guess I'll get used to this sooner or later. I honestly find this method of learning really cool, hence I'll put my 100% in trying to make these posts interesting for you to read! Here's something more about me!
So hello :) My name is Nurul Ain, but i prefer to be called Ainn instead. I recently turned 17 on 12th of April. I was from Yuhua Primary School and then studied in Swiss Cottage Secondary School. People often describe me as VERY BLUR, cheerful, optimistic, open-minded, vain, pampered, noisy, sociable etc. I am also the youngest in my family so i'm quite spoiled... but i'm improving. "Slowly but surely" they say!
I was a very active student back in my secondary school. I've held various leadership roles such as an Executive Committee in Student Council, held a Senior Staff Sergeant rank in my cca, which was definitely not easy to manage. I was also one of the high achievers in my school, receiving many different awards such as the most prestigious award in my school Rudy Mosbergen for All Round-pupil Award (which I got to make my very first formal speech for), and was shortlisted for an interview for Lee Kuan Yew for All-Round Excellence Award! Despite how much I enjoyed being active and being committed, I decided that I want to tone down on my commitments when i enter the tertiary education. You could say that I am pretty much sick and tired of people's expectations of students with great commitments.

Okay moving on!
My interest is in music and movies. I like listening to Taylor Swift because, well, I get inspired by her songs and her songwriting skills. I definitely cant sing as well as she can, but her songs really get to me most of the time! I also like movies, because during my break after Nlevels, I work in Shaw Theatres (where I met tons of amazing people which were hard to let go of), and hence I gained so much exposure on movies and what not. It was no doubt a very interesting experience for me! I also like dancing but I rarely have opportunity to do so.
Okay so, I was a biology student and I come from the St. John Ambulance Brigade (i am kind of a first aider), which means I've had some basic knowledge on the medical line and biology. Ironically, Health Sciences (Optometry) was not my greatest interest and being in the medical field was not something I wanted. My strength is in my language hence I initially really wanted to be in School of Film Media Studies, where I could put my strength in language to good use (e.g. DJ-ing, advertising etc.) I've always thought that medical line is very plain and dull, and I've had that opinion since my elder brother was once from NP's Nursing, and as I observed him learn, I didn't want to be in the same position as him one day. He's actually now advancing in his studies, from a nurse to become a doctor. So he did tell me that being in medical line is a very good career option. I still didn't agree with him. However, it really seems like fate wanted to rub it in my face hence, I was being posted to my 3rd choice, Optometry. I was very disappointed when I got to know that 6 points for N-level couldn't put me to where I wanted.
But on my first day, I entered NP with an open mind. No matter how much I knew I wasn't going to like whatever that I'm about to learn, I still took it as an opportunity for me to be specialized in something that not many people out there would have knowledge on; the eyes! Therefore, I really hope something along the way would motivate me to do even better in my studies here in NP. I am, however, really proud that I've made it thus far being in NP as a PFP student, and I'm more than glad that I've met many amazing friends here both in class and outside class. I hope to continue being optimistic about life and continue making more friends at NP, because being a freshman with very little friends is really boring. On a brighter note, my best friend (since i was sec 1), Aqil, is my deskmate in my current class! So you'll probably see us stick to one another pretty much all the time.

Well my first week of school wasn't too bad. Since I already have close friends in NP whom I met either from my secondary school or from the NPFP orientation camp, I wasn't really that lonely. The camp was great and from there, I met my first ever NP family. Even though a week has gone by, I'm still very close with them. On the first day of school, I actually met up with them for breakfast before heading to Biology class. Bio class was a dread. We started on the topics right away. I mean, even though I took biology in secondary school, my brain still need some kind of warm ups before having to process those crazy long terms again! Mathematics have always been my greatest weakness and my #1 enemy. Meanwhile, English and Behavioral Sciences were very interesting modules so, I'll continue looking forward to them every week. Sports&Wellness was on dancing, so, I kinda like it :)

On Wednesday, I had to excuse myself early from class because of the LKY award interview clashed with a bio practical class.. which was sad because I looked forward to bio practical. I was really nervous for the interview despite the weeks of preparation. I felt like there's a huge expectation being put on me to win for my school because my school has had candidates winning this very same award. However, what's important is the process of self-discovery I experienced in the midst of writing write-ups that were being sent to MOE, which needed me to really know myself well. I found it really effective in learning more about myself; my beliefs and philosophies, my aims and goals in life, my strengths and weaknesses etc., which I had brainstormed with the help of my mentor. With that, I would say that even if I don't manage to win the award, I've won something more precious - the learning experience! The interview went pretty okay actually... It was probably the most nerve-wrecking interview i'll ever experience but I'm so glad it's finally over. Phew.
But today, I'm down with high fever but i still managed to complete assignments (like this one), so I think I deserve a rest after such a crazy week!
